Ok we have all heard of the money that states hold from non collected bank accounts, deposits, stocks and other types. Go here http://www.unclaimed.org/ this site is really good because it has every state just click on your state and go. I know you say you have already check and there was nothing. Did you know that there are certain time periods which money is turned in to the state. I found a claim for stock in met life for my father in law. He is 75 and living. Think it is something his dad may have left him. Do not know the amount but Met life was at 40 something the other day. Found an escrow account for my uncle. Again, do not know the amount. State of NC does not post. Some state do. Each is differant. So have some fun. I just search friends that I know. Helping those who do not look at this site much. Hey remember it cost you nothing. You may know someone. Maid nems, addresses, states they lived in the past.
    AND IT IS FREE!!!!!!
Post your finds. State of NC has 600 million. :santa3:

It does not cost you anything to get. Note that this could be money from a past relative's account that you have the rights to. Like in my father inlaws case. He thinks it is someting his dad left him. Solo heir type stuff. Hey but if you are ok that the state is using your money for free and not paying you anything for it. Leave it. The college system loves that intrest they are getting.

It kinda sucks you have to include the state refund from the previous year as current year income. Isn't that being taxed twice on the same money?

Got mine pretty close this year. I try to keep it close to zero or pay less than a hundred. CPA does a good job.
