Duke projection in NCAA Tournament

I don't think that Duke will win it, but the Devils (as well as the whole ACC) are being overlooked nationally. A poor shooting game, combined with massive foul-trouble, will probadly end Duke's season. Duke's depth situation will come into play when they run into an officiating crew that calls alot of touch fouls (Duke's suffocating defense may not be fully appreciated by a Big East crew for instance).

 

Dook plays good not great defense. They will get smoked by quicker more athletic teams aka Georgetown.

 

Karl, do you think the Big East officials call the game tight? At times I would agree that it's a tight game in the Big East, but other times it's like the pick-up games where everyone would say, "no blood, no foul." Duke foul trouble hasn't hurt them so far this year. Scheyer has played smart with picking spots on when to be aggressive and when not. The big 3 against UNC scored 25, 20, & 20. The other players combined for 17. Scoring was consistent in that game and it was maybe a great game to get everyone in the flow. Maryland's flaw in my opinion is their lack of overall size. We'll see. The great thing about college basketball is that the 90 feet on the court is where the debates are settled.

 

Actually, there are only 20 feet on the court during a college basketball game, not counting the referees.

I really think that the Big East is getting ready to dominate this year's NCAA Tournament. Most of the team's in the Big East are very good defensively, which is what is needed to beat Duke. Cut out Duke's 3-pt shooting, add a little foul trouble, and Duke will probadly be finished. Duke should easily make it thru the first weekend thou.

when you told him last week he wasn't very good at this I thought you just meant basketball commentary. Who knew it meant he's just not that good at the internets.

 

Hard to predict how far any of them go because this may be one of the worst ACC seasons ever. No one looked all that great to me.
