    I've got a friend who was a very successful high school coach. He didn't see the point in playing in the playoffs at all if he didn't win the state championship. He would've just as soon took up equipment at the end of the regular season as to wait until the semifinals or finals 4 or 5 weeks later.

    Of course, but he didnt want to waste time playing playoff games unless he was going to win it all. That's what success brings. Unless you win it all, you're not very successful. Ask Tom Knotts.
