It be great if one of the playoff teams like the Jets wanted to sign Peppers. The only way they could get him is to trade for him, we would franchise his ass, then trade him away.

shits not gonna happen but its an interesting thought, maybe Ryan gets nervous about Patriots signing him and gives us his 1st rounder

If he signs with the Pats, we'll either have to deal with NE trolls throwing it up in our faces because he does great, or he'll suck and they'll stay away because of it. I hope they pay him and he dogs it.

ten to one that's Tony Softli, he's always been a talker.

Anyway, it's hard to totally disagree. An Asomugha contract might be the best thing - a three year high dollar deal.

Or maybe Tannenbaum remembers the last mistake he made with a first rounder trying to beat the pats.

I'm gonna ask the dumb, obvious question -- if the fear is lack of production, why not heap on production-laden incentives?

Or tag him again, opening the door for a nice trade, and if that doesn't happen getting contract year performance for our money.

Even with 'contract year performance', he's not worth anywhere close to that kind of coin. and because of that, the risk it too high. The chances of trading him are extremely low. we saw that last year.

My opinion here, but some reasons: for the team they can increase the size of a contract in a hurry and it's probably not easy agreeing on them , for the player/agent it hurts appearance of a deal you presumably want to show off, and the fact that there is no way to earn that money if you are injured.

That Gamble contract must really piss you off.

    depends on our asking price.

What the team knows that we don't is the level of trade interest. If there was real interest they would tag and trade. It's as simple as that.

Is it really surprising that other teams aren't knocking down the door to trade picks for a guy just to sign him to a giant contract wth the legitimate questions of a lockout looming?
