I ate a pound of bacon for breakfast this morning. If I eat an apple for dinner will that lower my carbon fingerprint?

That's the kind of balance I need to get back to. For a while I was lifting five days a week with virtually no cardio. Did more harm than good in the long run.

    Am I ready for what?

Are you ready to get your ass in shape?

There are a bunch of guys at my gym that just lift and do almost all cardio and, although they are all strong, they are all fat as well. Plus, I'm not sure what they are training for anyways.

Unless you are a pro athlete that necessitates a ton of muscle mass, what is the point?

It was to vent frustration. That routine started during an angry part of my life, and it just became a habit. I don't plan on losing a bunch of weight. I'm tall and long-limbed, and I think it looks better for me to have some mass. But I am in the process of turning it into good weight. I jog to the gym twice a week, which is about a mile away from where I live. It's a good start, but I need to keep progressing.

    i think its addictive.

edit: i have been considering changing my approach now that i have crested the half century mark. right now im between 200-205 but i work out regularly and have for most of my adult life. i use to run regularly up until about 6 years ago when my lower back started showing signs of wear and tear (pinched nerve). my doctor got me back in the gym. i started getting my low impact cardio, core strength, and hitting the weights hard. i had recently gotten my bench back to over 275 before Christmas but pulled something in my chest. i had never had that happen before. i've been repping with light weights since and like it, its harder too. i've always been strong but i need the endurance training more these days. i do think im mildly addicted to the adrenaline high though. i guess there are worse things.

I have been lifting since high school and used to work with real heavy weight also but I don't see the point anymore. I mostly use dumbells for every exercise with high reps. Less chance of injury and I think you get a better workout.

Every once in a while I get on the flat bench out of curiosity for a set. Last week I got on there and did a set of 225 which I used to be able to do 6-8 reps of and I only did 3. It was a bit depressing but once you stop working with heavy weight, it goes away fast.
