if he walks he's free to be pursued by anyone correct?

was suggesting that if that happens peppers/agent could cluster fuck negotiating to the degree that nobody gets him signed in 2010, or he finally gets signed later in the season

Not really, read up on the rules regarding unrestricted signings for the 'final 8' teams.

I think Peppers wanted out last year but is happier with the defensive situation this year. I think he would have liked to stay, but the "no action" on the team's part has been received like a slap in the face. I like the guy and would like to have him here I think the disappearing for multiple games stuff is mostly wrong because I saw him still all over the place, just seemingly used as the "safety net" as opposed to the "play maker" which I think was part of his original frustration. Maybe he isn't what everyone once imagined he would be, but he can still be a game changer. But no, I don't want to put a huge chunk of our $$ into one guy no matter who it is.

If I were going to pay that kind of money for one guy then that guy better be a franchise QB. No other player is worth that kind of money, IMHO.

I hope we get something for him but even if we do not I will be glad to see this whole sorry tale come to an end.

The Panthers could have avoided this. They just chose to give away millions to players who weren't worth it. Hurney still having a job is ludicrous.

could have avoided this by not over paying other players in order to over pay Peppers?

Hurney keeps making poor decisions. Like Re-signing Dan Morgan and letting Will Witherspoon walk. Re-signing Delhomme for 13 million guranteed. Finally, this Peppers fiasco. We need change in the front office, eben if Fox stays, imho.

No argument from me on the Morgan thing or on the Delhomme thing but I think Peppers has done as much to create this situation if not more than the team has.

Hurney needs to step it up. Due to Peppers debacle he will have extra funds to work with. He could get five good players to replace one peppers
