The Book of Eli

Anyone seen it? My wife and I watched it Saturday night. It was... interesting.

 

Hmm - is that a recommendation? I hate spending money to go to movies in a theatre if they're just average.

 

Pretty much every review I've seen is that this movie is horrible.
One said this was Denzel's "Waterworld".

The trailer looks real good, Denzel's good. Probably too good to be true, per Odin's info.

 

With all due respect, I don't think it's a movie you'd like Silver. It's all Biblical and stuff.

 

I don't know if I'd like that particular one, but I've liked a lot of biblical movies, or at least movies with biblical references. The old movie the Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston as Moses was one of my all time faves, plus I like the "good vs evil" stuff. The Exorcist and the Exorcism of Emily Rose were 2 of my faves also. And I like the C.S. Lewis Stuff. Just depends - everybody I talked to said the book of Eli just didn't really do much for them, so you're probably right about this one.

 

I thought it was the right mix of Biblical and not Biblical. Based on how it was put together, it could be a cool action movie for those non-secular and still carry an interesting message for those with a little more religious interest. I don't think either side would be disappointed with the amount of religious reference in the film.

I thought it was great. Had to see it a second time because of the nice twist at the end to see if there was any cheating going on, which there wasn't, which made it worth the second viewing ($5 matinee, full disclosure).

I did also see Legion and was as disappointed with a movie as I could have been that fronted religious themes. Maybe I had expectations but that was the worst film I've seen in a while. I had major issues with the backstory to begin with and then the plot was just plain bad. The effects were the only good part of the film. For such a great cast, I thought it was poop.

(EDIT: Didn't see the other Legion thread, so sorry for putting this in here, but the movies are supposed to be related on a quasi-Biblical level, and that could not be further from the truth.)

Saw the movie,very good movie; give the plot time to unfold; Denzel is a geat actor and does not disappoint. I really love to watch this movie
