    Surely management can figure out they could probably have Del Homo assassinated for about 1 million, thus saving 11 million of it. Problem solved.

    I agree right now I don't think you can read too much into things. The Panthers still have time to make an offer, and all Peppers' agent is running his mouth like he did last year when he said Peppers only wanted to play for 4 teams,,, how did that little demand work for him?

    I hope they can sign Peppers longterm for something reasonable, but if not I absolutely would NOT franchise him again. And as far as Davis, Kalil and Beason are concerned, I certainly hope we make signing those 3 as our top priority. Give me a team full of those 3 guys, and we're in good shape with or without Peppers.

    When are we ever vocal about what we are going to do? It seems to me that Carey is just being an agent and stirring up shit. If we really do not want to bring him back I hope we at least tag him and trade him. Someone will want him. Is there a downside to tagging him and trading him? I suppose if nobody offers anything remotely worthwhile. For as much shit as he gets he's still a top 3 DE in the league and they are pretty hard to replace.

    Yes, the Panthers' (JR specifically) history tells you that they will be quiet.

    However, the only part that I agree with Carey about, is that "it seems" if we actually wanted Peppers back, then we would at least be nice enough to say "hey, an offer is on the way"........

    Saying nothing, actually does imply that we're not interested, to be honest.

    I'd really like us to keep Peppers. He gets bashed a lot on this board, but he is still a top 10 DE in this league, maybe a top 5. He is also going to be the hardest to replace on our team. We could lose Delhomme, Williams or Davis and we have someone there that can equal the production. Who will replace Pep? Charles Johnson? Everette Brown?

    Some Sundays nobody could replace him, because he looks like a Hall of Famer,,,,,,, other Sundays anybody could replace him, thats the dilemma with him...

    Do we have any options?? Do we have any rights to trade him right now? I'm not sure how it all works, but it seems like our options are: 1.Try to trade him now, which I doubt he'd go for because he believes he'll test the free agent watres and get a better situation (I assume he has to OK a trade) 2. Franchise tag him and hope we can get a trade value for his number (I doubt we'd get $20 mil value for him) 3. Let him walk and we get nothing except some neat highlight film from his play here and some additional cap space (which may not even be an issue next season)

    Are these three correct? Are there other options?

    We have no ability to trade him unless we tag him.

    Tag and keep
    tag and trade
    let walk

    20 million is a lot of fucking money to hope you can trade him if you tag him. even in an uncapped year, you still have to pay that money.
