They've tried going that route, but to no avail. Apparently, the Pac 10 has bigger balls than the SEC. Oregon put it's BCS hopes on the line in september and lost out. I doubt Alabama or Florida would do the same.

If Boise played a top notch BCS conf. school like VaTech or Oregon every year, plus an average BCS conf. school (Oregon State, Texas Tech, Colorado, UNC) and a couple top teams from non-BCS conferences (Utah, TCU, Houston) instead of shit teams like Toledo, it would offset the general crumminess of their WAC sked. they go unbeaten with that, can't see why they wouldn't deserve serious consideration for the title game.

uga let bsu come there a few years and they got blown the fuck out. There is absolutely no reason for an SEC team to play boise.

boise state's not the same program they were when they played georgia in '05. they've made huge inroads into recruiting areas that had been pretty much Pac 10 territory. Keep in mind, they've only been D-1A for 14 years. It's amazing that they've reached the point they're at so quickly. Boise would finish no worse than fourth in any BCS conference. They'd slap UGA, home or away.

no reason to play Boise? probably not, with way the BCS is set up. Plus, with the SEC having two division winners playing for the conference title, it doesn't make sense. But for the Pac 10 and Big 10, which doesn't have a conf. championship game, a date with Boise would be huge. It would certainly help a one-loss team's argument for a spot in the BCS title game.

People need to realize that Boise's schedule isn't entirely up to Boise.

You're probably right. 4th place doesnt get in the bcs in any conference and we wouldnt even be having this conversation.

true. but they have non-conf games next year against Oregon State and VaTech (good) and Toledo and Wyoming (not good). I can't imagine why they couldn't have gotten someone like BYU, Utah or TCU (set up a home-and-home) instead of Toledo, and replayed Wyoming with a middle-of-the-pack team from a BCS conference. Dave's partially right when he says SEC teams have nothing to gain by playing Boise. That logic applies only to the good SEC teams like Bama, LSU and Florida. But for the second-tier SEC teams, like Ole Miss, Miss St., SC, Vandy and Kty — who have no chance of winning the conf. title — the risk-reward is significant.

I know it is for the money. But I've always wondered why the NCAA didn't start a tournament 90 years ago. Maybe the same time they started a basketball tournament. Imagine how big that would be today.
