No, not the thing to do. I have had this card since the nineties and it is the foundation of my credit score. To cancel it would be to lower my score. I HAVE stopped purchasing anything on it until they get their shit together and lower my purchase APR. I will be making them understand this in a couple of months when I call them again.

If you wingers would actually HELP people instead of distort and bitch about others trying to help people you would not look like the moron you like to be seen as.
It's why you clowns are on the back of the bus.

How much would it lower the score? I've cancelled many cards, even the first ones I ever had. Didn't do much to the score. Now, if it's like a 20,000 limit and you have 30,000 in overall credit, then you have a point. I had two AMEX cards each with around 15,000 limits. Never used one and cancelled it mainly due to security concerns. Didn't do much of anything to my credit score.

Maybe you should call Heath Shuler and get advice on how to cancel your shitty credit card. He may even have a staffer hold your hand and hum lullabies while going through the complicated process with you.

It's hard to help the ignorant. There are many sources to help people with credit debt. The problem is that is to late to help people. The people are the ones that get themselves into trouble and then cry "woe is me". Caveat emptor has always been my motto.

He's concerned about the effect of canceling the card will have on his credit score. Legitimate concern, but one I would think isn't as bad as he or most think it would be.

If I were in trouble with my credit you might have a point. This thread is about credit card predatory practices and how the Dem's have stopped it with no thanks to repukes who have been saying NO to everything since day one. But you keep up the spin, son, I don't expect anything else from you.
