    Most ACC teams are saying "wait till next year." The conference overall didn't perform very well in respect to the National Championship picture. Still, UNC did have a winning year & went bowling again. (something Duke, Wake, Va. Md, & N.C. State didn't do) The Tar Heels did beat state rivals ECU, & Duke, & also defeated #14 Miami, #13 Va. Tech, and a decent BC team. The season was disappointing, but it wasn't a total loss. I think Butch Davis has the Heels headed in the right direction. The recruiting does seem to be going well (hope a decent QB is coming soon), so no reason to believe that Carolina is not going to get better with time. I do agree with one thing you're saying: Most of the 34 bowl games being played are sorta crappy. The conference championship games are more exciting for fans than most of these bowl games. UNC fans weren't excited about going to the tire bowl again. It showed with the empty seats.

    they lost by 2 after a last minute FG...I wouldn't call that whipped. The embarrassing part is they should have played that game at Memorial Stadium.

    Yep. Dick Crum spoiled us with that last ACC Championship. (1980)

    Bo Rein took NC State to the promise land in 1979. I think we've gotten over it already.
