Yes, but I'm trying to give him benefit of the doubt.

It would give them something else to shoot for. It might would help them financially, I don't know about that. Anyway, as an independent, they're not doing too good. Add two teams to the Big Ten, split into two divisions, and hold a Big Ten Championship game like everybody else. It would add some excitement to the Big Ten, & to the Notre Dame program. Just a thought.

Lou got his players in around ND's academic standards. Then they changed presidents, and Lou left. Now they want Vandy's academic standards and USC's football standards.

Big 10 Championship game. That would be a financial success for sure.

With their boosters and their own telivision contract, Notre Dame football does very well financially. For now. And they have plenty of exposure. Joining the Big East or the Big 10 would benifit those conferences more, particuarly with being BCS eligible with 10 wins as an independent.

Academically, its a school on par with Stanford, Northwestern, Vandy, and Duke. The only difference is they have a history of being a top 10 program, 20, 30 years ago. That's the issue.

Would it be more than the yearly TV contract? Also, if ND could make it to a bowl game, not to mention a BCS game, they keep all that money with no conference splits. The main reason, IMHO, ND is independent is it is better off financially.
