With Fat Chuck on the griddle because the Irish is not meeting expectations, where is the Notre Dame program headed ? Will they ever be a top 10 program again ? Will they ever accept the fact that they are not among the top programs in the nation ? I have never been a Notre Dame fan, in fact I don't like them but what's the future going to be in South Bend ?

I never understood the "they" in this debate. Where are all the ND fans that think they have a top program. I don't know any and wouldn't know where to find any. I don't understand the hate at all.

I can understand why people are tired of seeing them over-ranked in the preseason.

They could be a top program again. They still have the name. Joining a conference would be a good first step, in my opinion, but I doubt that will ever happen.

It's not like this is sudden. They haven't really been contenders since Holtz.

The Not so Big 10 would take them in a heartbeat but you're right...It will not happen.

the key, once all this goes down and people put oppressively high expectations on the next high dollar guy they bring in, is getting Weis with the Panthers' staff.
