I wasn't trying to insult you- I was offering a heads up that almost everyone in the mainstream medical and research communities consider Mercola a quack. Not just a few that don't agree with him, but almost everyone.

I also am a big believer in self-education and questioning everything you read, but that doesn't change who Mercola is. I was hoping that instead of getting defensive because you dislike me that you might actually look into my claims before trusting information from Mercola.

 

I wasn't being defensive, I was saying that I do my own research as far as medical information goes. I have read the claims that he is a "quack" and I've also read some of the exact same findings in other sites as well. As said before, it is something to think about and consider.

 

Alternative medicine has always been considered quackish, but people are coming 'round.

1000 A.D. - That root is heathen. Here, say this prayer.

1850 A.D. - That prayer is superstition. Here, drink this potion.

1940 A.D. - That potion is snake oil. Here, swallow this pill.

1985 A.D. - That pill is ineffective. Here, take this antibiotic.

2000 A.D. - That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root.

 

Of course there is a place in modern medicine for natural alternatives. I have no problem with using "the root" or "the herb" or other natural remedies when treating certain conditions.

I do have a problem with someone that tries to convince parents that their kids don't need any vaccinations or tells people with cancer that they shouldn't rely upon modern treatment- instead they should take a herbal supplement or other bullshit like that.

 

Once the wife and I were in the Amazonian rainforest and she came down with "women problems" , you know, it was that time of the month. A local gave her some "tea" and it took away the pain in about 30 minutes. After that experience, I don't doubt natural remedies, except for the ones you see on television.

 

Swine flu is the common name given to a new strain of influenza (flu). It is called swine flu because it is thought to have originated in pigs, but this is not certain.

People with swine flu typically have a fever or high temperature (over 38°C) and may also have aching muscles, sore throat and/or a dry cough (see Symptoms). In other words, the symptoms are very similar to seasonal (regular) flu. Most people recover within a week, even without special treatment.
Pandemic

The virus was first identified in Mexico in April 2009. It has since become a pandemic, which means it has spread around the globe. It has spread quickly because it is a new type of flu virus that few, if any, people have full resistance to.

Flu pandemics are a natural event that occur from time to time. Last century, there were flu pandemics in 1918, 1957 and 1968, when millions of people died across the world.

In most cases the virus has proved relatively mild. However, around the world hundreds of people have died and it is not yet clear how big a risk the virus is. For this reason, and because all viruses can mutate to become more potent (stronger), scientists are saying we need to be careful.

 

It wasn't that many years ago that the average human lifespan was what 50 years old. Did they not have the roots and herbal medicines then. Today with all our modern medical treatments that lifespan is nearing 80.
