I am saying we might have a chance to turn this around and start playing well again. If we keep playing like this then it probably all gets blown up at year end and we are looking at rebuilding. If we can play well and win some games then maybe not and next year we can be a contender.

but c'mon. If you were going to put a % on it, what would you say, 5%, maybe 10% chance they could even get to 8-8? In a season with that schedule, if you aren't 4-2 or 5-1 to start its tough to get real fired up. At least you can always root for your guy to knock the shit out of someone any given game.

What exactly gets blown up? We've got the OL (except vincent), RBs, most of the WRs under contract. Peppers is gone one way or another, other than that Thomas Davis and Richard Marshall are the best defensive players at risk of leaving. I don't think a new coach would change all that much.

A new coach would probably shake things up and guys who are solid right now are not going to necessarily fit in a new system.

I would rather see Fox stay and just bring in a new quarterback. I think the team is fairly solid and only missing steady QB play to be a contender. If Jake plays like an average NFL starting QB all year this year then we are probably 4-2 right now. We should have won vs. Buffalo and Dallas. Philly was a train wreck and Atlanta was on the defense.

I say we try to win as much as possible just for its own sake. I would rather finish 7-9 than 2-14 even if both miss the playoffs.

8-8 beats the shit out of giving up for the year and helping breed a Saints style losing dynasty. I can understand disappointment that we're not amongst the top 8 teams this year but "oh no we might win some games" isn't something I get. As for "I'd rather have a different coach", guys in our division have been fired with winning records. We've seen within the last few years a coach get fired at 14-2. Maybe at 8-8 there's enough to make some changes and not be stupid enough to let things sit because they had worked once.

yeah, now that you say that I'm not sure why I'd want a team I have emotional investment in to win football games.

I love football... but my life is really no different when the Panthers win or lose. I want them to win, but regardless I still have fun going to the games...

I'm still pulling for a 11-5 record, I think 10-6 makes the play-offs. We're relatively healthy and if we can put a sting of wins together and stay healthy, we can turn this season around... We're built to play in cold weather... defense & running game... It'll definately come down to the last game of the season to get in.
