New book by Deepak Chopra. You should check it out.

He invited me to his seminar on 10/13 at the Riverside Church here in Manhattan and got an autograph. It was a real blessing.

The book is about how by understanding our consciousness, we can reinvent our bodies. We are not in our bodies, but our bodies are within us. Nobody can look inside us and see who we really are. Also, our DNA changes based on every event that happens in our lives.. good or bad. We can heal ourselves, etc.

    Check it out:

Sounds like a book written along the same lines of Eckhart Tolle (A New Earth), which was made famous by Oprah's web class aka a front for a mass trance.

Oprah calls it "illuminating the mind", I call it an attempt to kill The Church.

Despite all the New Age noise, there is growing evidence that the environment does in fact affect DNA and that mutation is not done only during the copy (reproductive) process.

Self-Healing is also a large component of the placebo effect which can often be as much as 30% effective in a group of people for a wide range of illnesses. Holding crystals and meditating with Tolle and Chopra is NOT going to heal your diabetes though.

Yes, Eckhart Tolle is also another self-help guru. Deepak refers to a lot of different spiritual figures when writing. I.e. Jesus, Buddha, etc.

I know.. it's a deep claim. One that he talks about more thoroughly in his new book. But think about it.. studies have proven over and over again, based on our moods, certain things change our brain and based on our brain functions our DNA constantly changes. So with that being said, we can understand that our spirit is not within our body, but our body is within us.

    Ponder for a moment. :flower:

Does Chopra actually make this claim in his book? I know you had to get it from somewhere.

    Our DNA changes??

Our body chemistry changes, but our DNA is static.

And you would be wrong, yet again.

    *Edit*
Sorry, little harsh maybe. DNA is altered by the environment but not because of moods. If that were the case, women would not even be human anymore.

system-wide or just individual cells? i can't believe the environment would be able to alter all of your dna in concert.
