My Discover upped my rate, though I have never been late nor over spent. In fact, I pay the balance off every month (+/- $1,000) each month. I have had the card for 4 years, have not paid them a dime in interest, and have earned enough "points" for an Applebee's and Chili's gift card, without paying the first finance charge. Looks like a good thing to me. I have a mortgage and truck payment also to keep building my credit. Pay my Visa and Lowe's off each month also. Is paying off the credit cards each month hurting my credit? I don't see how.

....hey Macadoo, have you had a speeding ticket or fender bender?
How about checking your payment history for the elec. bill, water bill, cable bill, etc.

Sometimes we pay on time and the payment is not recorded on time!

Huh??? Other than 2 seat belt tickets, nothing since the mid 80's. I did bend, quite badly, a good friend's motorcycle fender recently, but I fixed that. Utilities (phone, cell phone, satellite and internet) are bundled, and always on time. Ain't sure where you were going with this.

....just making suggestions as to the vast number of things that we pay on time and are not neccessarily posted on time.

My car insurance rate went up because momma and/or i did not pay this bill or that bill on time....so they say.

i went back and checked because i'm a loser and have nothing better to do, and....BAM, we were right, and they were wrong.

have you checked your credit report for free online?

i hope its correct but maybe theres some crap on there that does not pertain to you.....other than it screws up your credit until YOU fix it.

HELLO TBR, if these entities can justisfy charging us more $ , whether or not the info they've got is correct, they'll do it. its our job to find out why and then fight back.

The fuckers just raised my % too. I've had that card since 1989 and never late... anywhere. Credit score of 810. I went and got me a new Visa platinum, their rate was a bit lower than what they raised my rate to on my old card. I'll keep the old card because I've had it for so long but I'll do all my business on the new Visa card. It's got rewards, the old one didn't.

What's your credit score Mac? Right now if it isn't at least 690 the banks don't want your business. I know you went through a divorce a while back did the ex have any joint accounts that may have hurt you? If not then you are now seeing why Obama pushed for legislation to reel the credit card companies in. This was happening to people way before that legislation passed. You can go back to the year Bush signed the New bankruptcy law.[The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005]. That law gave the banking industry much broader power to recover money lost to credit card customers. And to answer your question yes it does hurt your credit if you pay off your credit card balance every month. It also hurts your score if you pay off a card and close out the account. I know it sucks but that's the way it is in today's banking world.

Retarded that anyone would need Obama to help reel credit card companies in. I fired those jokers over three years ago out of my life and haven't played with those snakes since. They can raise my interest rate to 1500% and it would have zero effect on my life. If you don't like the behavior of certain companies, don't wait for the government to fix the companies. Fire those snakes and don't use them. If enough people do that, the companies would either go out of business or fix what causes people to hate them without any legislation or tax money needed. Course, that would require personal responsibility which Americans don't do so much anymore.
