Didn't see all of last night's episode as I was trying to get a kid to sleep. So, what was the deal the the amputee? I know he was a jerk due to pain, but what did House do at the end?

I think it was a mind trick of sorts. By tricking the patient into seeing only his left and and a reflection that would represent the right hand that's not there, he made him made a fist with both 'hands'. Then relaxed it. And the right forearm relaxed.

Pretty cool.

He also drugged him and duct taped him to a chair, if you didn't see that part. Not much funnier contextually than House walking up to a guy and dropping 50cc into someone unexpectedly.

 

That arm scene was very cool, getting rid of pain that wasn't there, the powers of the mind.
