    Yankee, I like taste of roasted garlic and it cooks away in the crock pot anyway.
    You have a point, it does brown, but it gives it a boost of flavor in my opinion.

    Fred, another thing my momma taught me. Although your roast will be covered with the lid.... Put foil over the roast tented right above it right inside the pot and then put a piece over the entire crockpot before you put the lid on. It extra seals in the flavor or something.
    She makes the best one ever, believe that.
