What does Kevin Bryant have to do with this? He's not even on the team, and I never claimed that any of these Tar Heels that have been in trouble are saints or that Butch Davis never takes talent into account when he punishes or signs a player. Nor do I blame TOBY for taking a chance on a kid who's been in trouble. If he thinks that kid will make his team better, that's what he should do, because his #1 job is to win football games. He won't ever be fired for taking a chance on a kid like Lemon, but he probably will be fired if he doesn't post a winning record in the next couple of years.

My point is that breaking some kids eye socket for (gasp!) talking to his girlfriend does not put Lemon on a higher moral ground than Donte Paige-Moss, which is what you are claiming. Both kids were wrong, and both kids were punished, and neither incident should reflect badly on either coach. End of story.

One kid gets kicked out of a D1 school and has to go to a military academy for a year while another gets handled internally (and wasn't Moss the one kicked out of a couple of HS games for fighting?). See the difference now?

So you're saying that young man deserved to be beaten so badly that one of his eye sockets was broken, because of what he may or may not have been thinking at the time? Wow.

Seriously, how can anybody argue with that kind of logic?

Yeah, one incident was a fight between teammates, and in the other example, a kid got beaten up at a pool party because he spoke to a female. You're right, there is a big difference.

Yep, big difference. Some of us will be able to crow when Moss fights again (and it won't take long) and some won't.

Hell, Moss might fight again and Lemon might fight again...it's a crap shoot. Either way, both were wrong for what they did and you have no moral high ground to stand on. I couldn't care less whether that kid went to military prep school or not. All that proves is that he was smart enough to know that he had no other choice but to go to prep shcool if he ever wanted to play div. 1 football again.
