If you don't mind paying Total Recorder is the deal.

The Professional Version ($35.95) will actually open the website and start the stream based on a schedule. Sort of like a DVR for webstreams...

What do you think about the shakeup that's coming with 850/620 and 99.9? My big problem is the potential loss of my man Bomani Jones.

I used to love the Morning Sports Page, but a minute of hearing Mac makes my ears gush blood. After Gary left, there was no reason whatsoever for me to tune in to FNZ. I'm either listening to WFAN out of NY to listen to fellow Mets fans moan, or 790 the Zone to hear the Stews.

...HUH? You're letting me know that Bomani is getting kicked to the curb? BAM!!!!! I'd like to put a foot in his *@$! This guy is not an uneducated man but his schtick is to act and talk like he just rolled out of the hood.
Sorry Bo but your rant sucks!!!!

As far as 850/620 goes, I listen pretty much all day long, which is what they want me to do.
Adam is ok and the rest are fricking mooks! Solarte wasn't Jim Rome but he waxes everybody he left behind.

Bomani moves the meter that way, it seems people either love him or hate him. I love his show, and I think it's the best thing on 850/620 by far, aside from Dave Glenn.

I guess we're even; you hate Bomani, and I hate the Marlins. LOL

According to this mornings Observer 1660 will be switching to conservative news talk on 9/14. Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Jason Lewis will be just a few of the shows on the 'new' station. It will be WBT's local conservative talk versus 1660's national conservative talk. We now will get our sports talk around Mac's annoying laugh, Frank and Buc butchering the English language, and Pac's ego.

That fucking sucks. Instead of improving sports talk in the area they take it away? I guess they are conceeding that they can't satisfy the sports fan in the area. Hope they get some competition soon. No reason why someone shouldn't be broadcasting ESPN/Sporting News radio 24/7.

Someone in the know. How much (best guess) is it to get 24 hours of ESPN or Fox verses putting these stooges on the air? Would be funny if someone just put up a National show and blew FNZ off the airwaves

Will someone explain to me how the bigwigs at CBS Radio think their 10k watt daytime (1k at night) new talk station WBCN will compete against the 50k watt blowtorch WBT? Its a mismatch that wont last a year (especially when there wont be 1 local show in the lineup).

Talking back: CBS to take on WBT

WBCN will drop sports simulcast for a conservative-talk format that brings nationally syndicated shows.

    More Information
    WBCN-AM Lineup

Here is the weekday program lineup for WBCN-AM (1660), which will launch Sept. 14.

    6 a.m.-9 a.m.: “America's Morning News.”

    9 a.m.-noon: Glenn Beck.

    Noon-3 p.m.: Michael A. Smerconish.

    3 p.m.-6 p.m.: Sean Hannity.

    6 p.m.-9 p.m.: Jason Lewis.

    9 p.m.-midnight: Michael Savage.

    Midnight-1a.m.: John Gibson.

    1a.m.-6 a.m.: Phil Hendrie.

Beginning Sept. 14, WBCN-AM (1660) will stop simulcasting sports programming from sister station WFNZ-AM (610) and launch a talk schedule, calling itself “America's Talk.”

“We feel that Charlotte has never really had an alternative when it comes to news talk,” said D.J. Stout, operations manager for WBCN.

WBCN, formerly WFNA, went on the air in December 2003, and was used as an auxiliary signal to help fill in gaps in the coverage area of CBS Radio's WFNZ. It has been simulcasting WFNZ's local programming and carrying syndicated sports features.

Stout said the new station will be aimed at adults in the 25-54 age demographic and is expected to skew toward male listeners.

WBCN will be at a disadvantage against WBT because of signal strength. WBT is licensed to broadcast at 50,000 watts while WBCN is at 10,000 watts daytime and 1,000 watts at night.

Also, most of WBT's programming is locally generated, while WBCN's will be syndicated.

WBT, owned by Braintree, Mass.-based Greater Media Inc., also dominates the local radio market in sales. Last year, WBT billed nearly $11 million in advertising, reaping about 10 percent of local radio dollars.

Rick Jackson, WBT's general manager, said Thursday he had no comment on the new station, preferring to wait to see how it performs.

    May be growth opportunity

Charlotte's overall radio earnings this year, caught in the recessionary vise, are expected to be down about 20 percent this year to approximately $80 million.

Nationally, ad spending on radio is down in the first half of the year, led by a 31 percent drop in automotive advertising, according to an analysis from the Nielsen Co.

But the move could have advantages for CBS because it would create a new sales opportunity.

“We're expecting to attract new clients,” Stout said. “We're always looking for ways to increase that bottom line.”

It won't be known until the autumn ratings how the loss of the sports simulcast will affect the audience for WFNZ.

“It probably will, we just don't know how much,” said Bill Schoening, Charlotte market manager for CBS Radio. But, he points out, WFNZ is also available online and carried on the HD3 channel of sister station WPEG-FM (97.9) for listeners with HD radios.

CBS does not make public results of individual stations, but WFNZ's sales are believed to be in the $4 million range annually.

Also, CBS will contain expenses by airing exclusively syndicated shows, which are less expensive than locally produced programs.

Schoening said he didn't consider bringing in liberal talk-show hosts, like those on the Air America Media network, because the ratings are soft for that format nationally.

“There's an audience for this,” he said. “I don't know if there's an audience for the Air America format.”

    Newscasts from WCNC-TV

Stout said two local newscasts will be provided hourly through a partnership and promotion arrangement with WCNC (Channel 36).

Stout said landing former WBT afternoon personality Lewis, who now does a show syndicated nationally by Premiere Radio Networks, was a priority as the new station was planned over the summer.

“He was right there at the top of the list,” Stout said.

“I think it'll be the stiffest competition WBT has seen in a while,” said Lewis, now based in Minneapolis.

News-talk remains a popular format in Charlotte. WBT attracted 5 percent of listeners and NPR affiliate WFAE-FM (90.7) attracted 3.4 percent in the most recent Arbitron survey.
