    Opener against Gamecocks again.

Last year the Wolfpack was throttled by the South Carolina Gamecocks 34-0 on a opening Thursday night ESPN game. Will the Pack show up this year on opening night? Or will this game set the tone for the remainder of State's season?

NC State lost 34-0 and that didn't "set the tone", what do you think will then?

    Mired In Mediocrity?

I suppose it will set the tone for another season of "Mediocrity".

Raleigh, N.C. — Coach Tom O’Brien announced that former Georgia defensive end Michael Lemon will join the N.C. State football program Friday.

According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Lemon was kicked off the Georgia roster last year because of felony battery charges. Lemon reportedly punched a fellow Georgia student in June 2008. In a plea deal, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of battery, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness and served two weekends of jail time.

“It's a one-time incident,” O’Brien said of the fight after the Wolfpack’s Thursday scrimmage.

O’Brien believes the brawl was a result of Lemon’s struggling with his mother’s death. She was a victim of domestic violence in February 2007.

“His mother was killed and the house was set on fire, and his younger brother was in the house. Someone pulled his younger brother out of the house, and that's all he has left in the world," O'Brien said. "He had some issues at that point and was trying to grow up and made a mistake.”

A N.C. State spokesperson says Lemon has two years of eligibility remaining. He has attended Georgia Military College since being released from Georgia.

O’Brien also said Thursday that quarterback Everett Proctor will miss the season with a torn labrum. The freshman from Fayetteville Jack Britt High School had surgery Wednesday.

Lemon did what I always think any kid who gets in trouble should have to do. Go to a JUCO and keep their nose clean to earn a chance to play again. Don't you wish Kevin Bryant/Donte Moss/Elzy had done the same this week?

Bryant was kicked off, Donte got into a fight with his best friend over a game of madden, and Elzy had a little weed - a college kid with weed, fire Butch Davis
