I like wine but I know little about it.

I need suggestions for wine for my son's wedding rehearsal dinner. I'll need both red and white wine...........and enough for up to 45 (assuming everyone is drinking which is what you have to plan on) people without taking out a loan.

    Sugesstions?

Are you asking what kind? Or how much?
White wine, I like Chenin Blanc. I don't drink much dark Red, I've heard Shiraz is pretty good. Is wine the only alcohol choice?

The wine snobs will probably laugh, but Berringer has a Cabernet that is a REALLY good value. $6 a bottle, but in my opinion it drinks like a $10-15bottle. And its sold pretty much anywhere. Don't have anything to offer on whites.

fuck that. This is North Carolina. The wine should be sweet enough to dislodge your teeth on first taste. It doesn't matter what it is or what the quality is, sugar Goddammit. Sugar. And then a little more just in case.

If you're going for sugar some ports you can use in lieu of pancake syrup.

Wine, reminds me of my hippie days and $1.50 a gallon Red Mountain.

    Both actually.

    Thanks!

The wedding is in Ohio. Does that change things?

There rehearsal dinner is at a restrurant with a full bar but I am not going to pay for everyone's drunk that night for an open bar and I think given everyone a two drink limit comes off rude and seems childish to the people. I am willing to put out bottles of wine at the tables.

The restrurant has this large wine room but I need to know what to tell them to bring out. I'm the type who goes in and just orders a glass of the house red.

And Melonhead............THANKS for the pm I am going to check into that one!
