Pretty cool to see the old guard of the Cardinals. I remember very vividly my step dad talking about watching Bob Gibson pitch as an adult and Stan Musial as a kid. As a Phillie fan I remember hating the Cardinals when Scott Rolen was traded there now he is so far removed from his former self I could care less anymore. Pujols is the man

I remember watching watching Gibson pitch on TV when I was a teenager. He was freakin' intimidating on the mound. My Grandfather was a Cardinals fan from the 1920's till his death in 1991. Although I'm a Braves fan I'll always have a soft spot for the Cards because of him.

As a life long National League fan I'd like to see them win one of these things someday...

born in Boston, life long Sox and AL guy, but you have to respect fans that tailgate all season, especially in that heat. Want to go to a Cardinal game at some point in my life.

I love the story in Men At Work about how Gibson drilled a young player when he was pitching batting practive for the Braves.

I heard on the radio the other day the Gibson once told Mccarver upon going out to the mound:

"Get back behind the plate. I'll throw the ball, you catch it. The only the thing you know about pitching is that you can't hit it."

    If so that is great.

I hope it's true. Gibson is a stud, Mccarver is a douchebag

Gibson was a tough dude. McArver also once said that he went to the mound one day after Gibby had given up a couple walks and a homer. As he approached the mound Gibson said " What the fuck do you want" ?
