It's amazing to me that the Phillies are still on top the division by 4 games right now, especially with the lack of pitching they have. If they can somehow secure another arm or two (Martinez??? not sure if he is the answer) they could be the first repeat winner of the WS in a long time.
    We'll see!!!!!

    PEDRO MARTINEZ

Just got the word that Pedro is in Philadelphia getting his physical. If everything goes well with that, he will sign! I"m not sure that this is the best thing for the Phillies, but they have to do something to help their pitching staff!

I agree completely! Now if you do sign him, do you start him or bring him out of the bullpen? If you do start him, how long can he go and how effective will he be? Obviously the Phillies brass know a whole lot more than anyone else, but ............. it should be interesting!

he'll start out of the bullpen to begin with, probably a limit of 35-50 pitches for a while.

The Cuz kept implying that the contract would be incentive based and likely wouldn't cost the Phils much if he sucks. Heard anything different?

I heard 5 million base plus incentives. A 3 month rental for 5 mil? The way he has been? I'd give him 3 plus easy to achieve incentives. Earn the real money
