Now THIS we can agree on. He's been doing the "dirty" work, but it has been disappointing that his production has dropped off so much since when he first rejoined the team.

He's definitely DREAMING if he thinks he is going to get 3+ million/year if he doesn't wake up soon. I love what the guy can bring... but I don't wanna hamstring our budget just to keep my jersey relevant.

I think I may root for the Canes so I don't have to see Detroit kick the shit out of the Penguins again.

Canes had a sloppy 2 minutes that put them down 2-0. Fleury played incredible, but he looks beatable. Ward was solid, but he needs to be better.

Cooke hit on Cole was unfortunate and avoidable. You'd think that the injury to Gonchar would make the Penguins hypersensitive to that garbage. Many are questioning the intent on Rutuu's injury as well. Seems that whenever the Canes play in Pittsburgh, they always seem to sustain a major injury (Letowski, Cole, Walker, Brindy, Cole, Rutuu).

I'm thinking this game was ugly enough to generate some hate. Wouldn't be suprised to see things get a little chippy in game 2.

    Canes in 7.

The 2nd goal by Malkin was pretty soft by Ward standards. A weak backhander that went under his blocker side arm. If he's more compact, there are no holes and that puck gets stopped.

There was a lot of traffic on the 3rd goal, so it is hard to really blame him, but 9 times out of 10 he stops that.

I'm not blaming Ward by any means. He made a ton of fantastic stops to keep the Canes within striking distance. But to beat an offensive juggernaut on the road in a game 1, he needed to be better (and can be).

Agreed. Despite the loss, I like our chances in this series. Boston seemed far more dangerous .
And yes, the Cole hit was dirty. Hope we can repay that one soon.
