Yeah, the fish was a red herring. Also, the statue wasnt brought down by the "incident" becasue it was gone when the did their final time flash to the dharma age in 1974. I loved the episode but Jacob and AJ (anti-Jacob) seem to take importance away from Ben and Widmore, who up until this point, we thought were the true battling forces and the string pullers for the losties.

interesting. yeah he said something like "they're coming" which could refer to the new group or it could refer to the oceanic 6 coming back to the present. "locke" seemed surprised by it and somewhat concerned.

my sense from the casting is that the guy playing jacob won't be featured a lot, so that would fit with locke staying in the show but being "jacob".

that was my sense as well, but i could remember if it was difinitive. the 70's group seems to not get around the island very much.

so if the "incident" is what caused the problem and the incident ended up being the nuke, how on earth did the swan get finished and the button installed? did new dharma people return and fix shit?

Nah, becasue in S3's Man behind the curtian, we see Horace is there and dies in the purge. And we also see Change has a prostetic hand in the swan orientation film....Unless Juliette is the variable, and her setting off the nuke changes evverything, which I hope does not happen, cause the above things mentions could then have not happened.

All I know is if Juliette and Sayid are gone after this season, I won't have much interest left in the show, Juliette had become my favorite eye candy and Sayid was one of the more interesting characters. I'm expecting the worst and hoping for the best in the "climactic" season. If its as disappointing as the Sopranos, what a downer.

so right, the incident as it occurs does not kill everybody, just a bunch of people. the nuke must not have had much of an effect (or maybe it failed to go off -- the flash could easily be a time skip caused by the incident itself). interestingly, maybe the folks who "died" in the incident actually end up in the present... wonder if they'd still be pissed off.

still, i'm thinking the nuke had to have done something with the incident to make it so important that farady go to the island (his folks both push him to it). maybe it's less to do with the nuke and more to do with "destiny" tho... but still, his return and presumably his nuke idea was all part of the big picture of what already happened.
