I grew up with a lot of State fans, I can clearly remember when being a Duke fan was a minority in the area. I don't know all that many State fans anymore and certainly don't see their gear like I used to. It's kinda sad really, it would be nice to see State get back to some prominence in basketball.

Maybe, but Duke is 10x the program State is. They are in the Top 5 of all-time wins and have a ton more Final Fours to their credit. State won 2 miracle championships, they really aren't in the same league (except that obviously they are.)

Duke will fall off but State outside of David Thompson and a handful of Valvano years haven't done anything since the 50's. It's not really comparable. Maybe if Duke flounders for the next 20 years it will be closer.

Sure I did, one was literally a miracle and one just appears that way until you dig deeper and realize that NC State had obviously one of the best college basketball players in history.

As an uninformed child seeing NC State over UCLA in the record books looked pretty out of place, and it still does. Doesn't mean it didn't happen and it doesn't discount David Thompson's college career. In my mind it makes it all the more astounding to see them over UCLA and Bill Walton.

Anyway, most programs would love to have those two championships. Duke included.

To anybody that lived ACC basketball from '72-'74 the '74 Championship was anything but a miracle. I was attending NC State in '83 and prefer to call that Championship magical instead of miracle. :bigear:

That was more like Houston giving State the title. One of the biggest choke jobs of all time.

Please. Duke was SHIT before K, and after K, will be SHIT again.
College hoops is ALL about coaching. Get a good coach, have a run.
(See Carolina..they've had a great run with quality coaches with Dean, followed by Roy..in between, we see Matt D, and we all know how that turned out.) Don't worry, though, I'm sure Johnny Dawkins will be there for you.
