Of all the horrible arguments I have heard, this one tops the list. Davis has to hate the fact that the UNC fan base was supporting their basketball team on their way to a national title! I know I would hate that if I was a coach.

A friend of mine was being recruited to wrestle at NC State. His grades were pretty marginal and he told the coach he didn't think he would get in. The coach asked if he met clearinghouse standards and he did. Then the coach said, "Then don't worry about that, I'll get you in."

So, the entire tar heel fan base was in Memphis?

I guess it makes more sense to travel 1400 miles to watch your basketball team than walk 1 mile to watch your football team.

Didn't realize 29,400 students went to Memphis...

Nobody ever said that every student was in Memphis. I was just pointing out that the Carolina spring game wasn't the only show in town like the NC State spring game was. Carolina's baseball team, as well as both the mens and women's lacrosse teams were also playing on the same day, and they are all nationally ranked programs.

Having said that, it was still a small crowd at 2,000... and nobody ever said otherwise.

I'm not worried about Davis leaving at all, so I don't know why State fans would be. You guys all believe that O'Brien is a better coach anyway, so why would you even care if Davis stays or goes?

Oh well, I can understand why State fans would rather watch a football practice than a basketball game that actually counts.

I'm happy with Davis so far.

They should have played the basketball game over the PA system at Kenan, at least it would finally give fans something to cheer about at that stadium.

At least Wiki has a sense of humor

The North Carolina Tar Heels football team represents the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in collegiate level football. Over its nearly 120 years of existence, the program has won 631 games for a winning percentage of .566, and has appeared in 26 bowl games.[1] The team's most recent bowl victory came in the 2001 Peach Bowl, in which they defeated the [[2HUGE HARRY BALLS16–10. Since joining the Atlantic Coast Conference in 1953, the team has won five conference championships, with the most recent title coming in 1980.

Oh crap. Now Butch has to worry about competing with the baseball and the lacrosse teams for fans. I'll give him two more years max. before he leaves.
