The details for the 2008 trade:

    CAR receives pick #19
    PHI receives picks #43, #109, and #28 in 2009

The details for the 2009 trade:

CAR receives picks #43 and #111
SF receives 2010 1st rnd pick

That being the case, my opinion is that assuming Brown and Martin are reasonably close to meeting expecations, this year's trade had way more value. It's not even close, really.

This years was better value; whether it works out as well as last years remains to be seen. Hindsight on last year I wouldn't change a thing, it worked out pretty damn well.

If it works out right and Carolina finishes in the playoffs again, then this years deal may have been better, but maybe not.

Picking 19th overall was a huge value over the 28th pick this year. If Carolina finishes this year in the playoffs then the 43rd pick may not be as big of a deal, but if Carolina has a top 15 pick, then we basically gave a up a SOLID starter next year for what may be a starter this year at 43rd and I don't believe we had to do that to get the 43rd pick.

My biggest issue with last year's draft was the fact that they took a running back with their first round pick when we already had DW. A back up for DW did not seem important enough to me to merit a first round pick. If we had not did that we could have taken Otah with our existing first rounder. That would have left us with a second round pick last year and our first this year.

Stewart turned out to be a good player so I do not have much issue with it now but at the time I thought it was a mistake.

This year we filled a need by trading. I have no problem with it. If we had a first round pick this year and had used it for a position where we are already solid like linebacker then I would have a problem with trading to get Brown.
