    No, not the baby... me!!

I thought that only happened to kids.. but christ, for the past few months it seems like I'm constantly battling an ear/sinus/respiratory infection.

The last time it went on for nearly 2 months, and it took 3 different antibiotics... I just got over it a few weeks ago :(

So now... my right ear is infected, my right nostril is clogged (wtf?) and I have a nasty cough... no over the counter (or behind the counter) decongestants, etc. have worked.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I had a bad ear infection like that a few years ago. I ended up taking a very strong antibiotic (can't remember what- maybe Cipro?). My eardrum ruptured and blood was running out my ear :34:

I say- Don't mess around and go get a strong antibiotic. You don't want it to get worse.

I also had some eardrops from the doctor- don't remember what they were either, but it did help it feel a little bit better.

You'll probably have to take it for longer. It must have not been gone all the way.... If I remember correctly I took it twice as long as recommended. I think 10 days, not 5?

Yes, exactly. If it's resistant, you have to stay on a kick-ass antibiotic long enough to really lick it.

There are some other things you can do that will also be helpful. One thing is to flush toxins out of your body with tons of water. Green tea is great--it has some antibacterial properties too. Garlic also has antibacterial properties, & I've been amazed to find how helpful it is for various ailments. If you don't like it, you can get it in pill form. Extra vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, & zinc should be helpful too.

I've read that certain allergies can make you more prone to ear infections, & dairy products were mentioned specifically. I don't know about that, but it wouldn't hurt to check for allergies at some point to control any future problems.

Oh, & when you're on antibiotics, they can kill good bacteria as well as bad, & can lead to a yeast infection for even more misery. As long as you take the antibiotic, eat a bit of yogurt every day to replace the good bacteria. Works like a charm.

Good luck. I know how miserable you must feel.
