I just wish if we're gonna keep Jake, we'd draft a QB this year with some potential, cut McCown, and let Moore or the draftee be the 2nd and 3rd backups. I still can't believe we're gonna keep that fuckstick for 5 more years. Good Lord. :N1OopsHL: :N1OopsHL: :N1OopsHL:

If Jake is able to maintain as a middle of the pack starting qb, then I think its an ok and not much better move. If he starts to slide a little, they are going to end up with an old crappy qb that'll hurt them for the cap. Even if they were to be uncapped next year, I doubt a smaller market team like the panthers would cut him despite giving him that much money guaranteed.
One of the things that blows my mind about the sports coverage here is how I haven't read an article about how stupid the move was. Even if you don't believe it was, there has got to at least be a journalist that isn't just a mouthpiece of the organization that actually points out the dangers with a move like that. Instead of beat writers, they are F$*#ing cheerleaders.

The deal actually accomplished 2 things,,, it freed up 2 million dollars for the Panthers to go out and get more players,,, and also it guaranteed that beer sales in the Carolinas are going to go thru the roof the next few years.

anywhere I lay my head I'm gonna call my home
and he's not a starting DT.

I'd expect he'd get a small deal and be a backup. He's not replacing anyone here.

As for writers, I dunno. I come to a place like this to hear what people think. I'm certain I don't look to read a news story and want to know what Charles Chandler thinks. I want to know something I didn't know, rather than be told what I want to hear. If you think that's what you'd rather see, send yourself an email that says it, then read it. There's your news.

Jake sucks, but I like him.

I wish the rest of you would be honest about it, too.

I don't think there's any question that Jake has had his moments here.....I think the question is more about who has the most future upside. At his best, Jake is a quarterback who doesn't lose games. We need a QB who, at his best, can win games consistently.

    Jake's best is behind him.

    Just my $.02.

Yep. The teams record is over 20 games higher when he starts. Arizona game was a disaster but still based on the fact we had no money to spend (thanks Peppers) what were we to do?

    this thread is funny.

When they went to the SB, Jake was the man. Based on his body of work, he's been the best QB the franchise has ever had, save for maybe Beuerlein. He had an epic meltdown against AZ, and now he's a fuckstick and he sucks.

If Carolina gets to the playoffs this coming season with Jake running the show, the haters will be cheering him.

    I shall laff heartily.

The problem is the fantasy football geeks dont get it when it comes to intagibles. There are very few top flight stat QBs out there.Fewer still are ones on consistant winning teams-2 really Brady and Peyton Manning. Delhomme has an ugly style compared to those type guys. What the fantasy geeks cant fathom is how the hell he wins, leaving pretty boys like Phillip Rivers whining like bitches after the game is over. Guys like Drew Brees and Jay Cutler were sitting at home during the playoffs. I like the guy not because hes an elite QB but because somehow, someway he finds a way to win more often then not.

As for the playoff game, anyone else wonder why after running the fuck over teams at the end of the season why we didnt, you know, run the ball? Besides Fitzgerald wouldve kept running over our D all game even if we didnt turn it over all those times.
