And don't forget that every time we pick, the show goes to a commercial and nobody gets to see who we picked until they get back from commercial.

    Bastards!! :die:

Our first pick is #59, unless you guys are projecting some kind of trade to move up.

    Obviously, BackwardsK said :drummer:

I tend to agree with him.

Okay, we might get a starter for '09 with #59 as we have done that with third rounders before (it may as well be a third round pick; seeing as our picks are bottom of the rounders, I choose to mentally transpose them down to the next round).

Can't remember offhand a 4th rounder starting for us right away but we've had some luck with later round guys contributing as "sophmores".

But y'all carry on, our tendency to move picks has dulled my enthusiasm for slotting out choices. Wasted a lot of time with round two and four last year.

Typo, my bad...I'll take a move up in the draft anyway I can, our pick or not! I think I was looking at Moala who they have ranked at #56 and it just stuck.

I'm not sold on Bernadeau being from a small school and a 7th round pick. If Kalil is injured would you be comfortable with that resume' under center? I surely am not.

At least with a Penn State product you have a known competition level without having to handicap the competition like a guy from a D-III school.

Was gonna make one of these this week. I'm going to not look at anyone's till mine is done, but also assume this naturally comes without any trades.

    59. Jarron Gilbert, DE/DT - It was a very tough decision with him v/s Sidbury. I think Sidbury fits perfectly as a rush end - which with Pepers playing this year under this scenario, is still a need. Gilbert, IMO, can stop the run OK enough from DT at under 300 lbs. He can rush the passer, and while he's not both big and agile at DT, being able to push the pocket and have quickness as a smaller guy is something I know we're looking for - or else we wouldn't be putting ends there. GIlbert is that style of bigger/taller end or smaller but able DT.

We don't do the "versatile player" thing as much as we used to, and I'm glad, but given a raw guy who can play end and tackle,or a guy who can play just end, I guess I lean this way. I do also believe he's the better player but I have both in the 40s (I guess. It's not like I actually have a list).

Ron Brace would be a third choice. Some good G/C and CB prospects there but those aren't even a concern yet.

    93. Terrance Taylor, DT.
One-dimensional, even slightly moody DT who'll need to be motivated and will need to work his way into rotation. he's a two-gap style run stopper who will cover his area, and we need that guy. So even though we've got two DTs in the first two picks that could theoretically not start this year, we have two guys who'll significantly improve the defensive line anyway. If Gilbert starts long term at DE, Taylor doesn't sit long. If Gilbert's a DT long term, we get a big guy next to him to eat blocks. Since Gilbert rushes the passer and is versatile, I feel much better about another DT than a DE here.

    124. Brandon Williams, DE - raw, athletic DE/rush specialist who needs a year and didn't time especially well. Still, he grades out well. He's not a good enough run defender and he can get caught up in blocks. Can he rush the passer? Yes. So he sits as depth to develop as the 9th guy for a year.

    155. AQ Shipley, C. I don't often pick the first guy left but this makes a lot of sense.

After that, I'd draft the fastest back available who can return kicks.

Damn, it seems most of us are on the same page; not necessarily with the player but definitely the positions.

It seems that most of us are in agreement a DT needs to come of the board first followed by either a corner, guard and another defensive lineman with the next picks.

Either this team has but a few holes to fill or we spend WAY too much time in this forum together. I'll go with the team only has a few holes. :13:

    welcome, BTW.

I'm not terribly worried about whether that 2nd will start. I am worried about whether that 2nd will fill a specific role now and be able to start (i.e., at the least, be able to be so significant in a situational role to where that player can be an all-around asset).

On the DL we have enough roleplayers that we could start four guys, and maybe have a situational player or two for each situation, but that's not enough and upping the quality in any of those respects is a good thing. Same for CB, but that certainly takes a backseat to the DL.
