BUT WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT STEPH!!!!111111111

I agree with what you are saying and that has been my point, I don't know if you said it better, but I did make my points without any insults or jabs...so I don't know what else to do....but then again I would not compare Ray Felton to Ty Lawson b/c I never watched either play that much, but I did watch all of JJs games so I know what he did as a freshman and how he progressed through his time at Duke.

If you're saying that playing at Davidson is anywhere near the same as playing at Liberty, then you're even more confused than I thought...
Seriously - give it up. You can't compare the brothers in any aspect at all. Their last name is Curry. That's it. Even if they were twins you couldn't compare their games. Look at Brooke and Robin Lopez...
You can't compare them or their schools the way you're wanting to.

Is the southern conference more of a gauntlet than the big south?

Seth did go for 20pt+ against UVA and Clemson.

How are the Big South and the Southern Conferences that different?

They do have a lot in common. There playing style is very similar. With that being said, I think it's a tough to compare a freshman year at duke to a freshman year at liberty. Both Curry's may have been more complete than Redick as freshman, but Redick was to the ACC during his senior year, what Curry was to the SoCon last year, and the quality of play is much different between those conferences.

All I am saying is that Seth was a better all around player than Redick was when they were freshman....Game tape will show you that. So "to the eye" yes that is my comparison....but the only thing Redick would drive to is an open lane in 02-03.

That includes the people he was playing against.

I'll admit - I only saw Liberty games as highlights - but I never saw Seth get double teamed in any that I saw. We're talking Division 1 basketball and we're talking about the Big South conference. Put those two together and just about everybody is as dangerous as anybody else. (I'd put Seth at the top of the 'danger' list in that conference probably, but to say you can double on Seth all the time is ridiculous.)

No argument about Steph. I'm talking only about the Seth (freshman) > Redick (freshman) bit.

And I'm trying very hard not to talk about facts so I'm on the same playing field as the interested guy.

you are using PPG stats, not the factor of how they played on the court, and I can say for Fact that Redick was a jump shooter as a freshman and that mostly came when he was open or from well behind the 3pt line where most teams don't defend.

You can use stats however you want...Steve Stricker is leading the PGA Tour in scoring this year....does that make him better than Tiger Woods?

It is not ridiculous to double Seth all game. And most of the teams he played did just that. Of course, players break double teams, defenders miss their rotations or get screened off, etc. so a double team doesn't actually happen every second of every game, but Seth saw heavy defensive pressure. The reason teams do that is because he is a scorer and he's not surrounded by guys that are going to reliably hit the open shots, be able to handle difficult passes, or anything else that makes them the threat he is.

Also, what the heck does your quote about it including the people he plays against mean? I started my statement off by saying that Redick faced superior defenders.

It is obvious you aren't interested in talking about facts, but you're not really talking about anything. If you want to know why people don't like to talk basketball with you, it is because you're not bringing anything to the table.

Sheesh. So are we or are we not talking about your eagle 'eye' and unsurpassed ability to spot talented players?

Ok, listen - put them in the same conference, make them the same importance to their team, and then compare stats. Heck, have them play a 7 game series of one-on-one. Either of those things would show who the better player is.

But, based on each of their freshman years and the FACTS, there's no comparison. JJ Redick > Seth Curry as a freshman.
