Because they present a more difficult matchup for Chapel Hill. Blair is a dominant inside force (something Blake Griffin showed they struggle with) and they have a back court that can convert open looks most nights. They are also a strong defensive team (something OU also showed they struggle with).

If a guy like Fields is on OU's roster, can you afford to double team Griffin? Probably not as much. Same goes for Blair. He's going to eat you alive on the boards and keep your bigs in foul trouble, but he has people he can kick it out to that can drop the shot. OU has solid guards, but none on the level of Fields.

While Villanova is a strong defensive squad, they play a style of basketball that is more akin to what Chapel Hill is used to seeing and beating. And before you starting blabbering about how Chapel Hill handled OU, which I will not contest, they had the benefit of OU's shots not dropping even when they were wide open. I wouldn't say OU exposed any weakness, more reinforced the suspicions people had about them defensively.

If it is difficult for you to really see why they should feel blessed, lucky or whatever adjective you choose, then it is a wasted conversation.

Since 'Nova beat Pitt, aren't we playing the better team on Saturday?

They were better that day and that is all that matters are far as who is going to continue playing.

But Kansas beat Mempiss last year to win the title and Kansas wasn't nearly as good as Mempiss. The kittens were the best team in the country by a wide margin and still got beaten.

NCSU beat a far superior Houston team to win a title.

Nova may beat a superior Chapel Hill team later this week. But, the team that Pitt fields presents more matchup problems than the team Villanova fields. Therefore, it should be easier for Chapel Hill to beat Villanova than it would have been to beat Pitt. Yes, it will still be a tough matchup. But, if are comparing the teams, Villanova is the one you want to play.

Ok, I agree with you that 'Nova beating Pitt proves they were better THAT day, but the very nature of the NCAA tournament is that at the end of the day, the best team has won the tournament, right?

And I think I've already said that I'd rather play 'Nova than Pitt, but it's not like that will be any easier of a game. I just think we match up a bit better with 'Nova. I think if UNC plays the game that they can play and be consistent - there really isn't a team that can beat them this year.

The best team doesn't always win the tournament. The best team generally wins. As much as everyone hates Collin, he was right about the nature of tournaments. The more teams you introduce, the more random factors you introduce.

One team wins one day that would generally lose to a the superior team. Like a miracle 15 over a 2 seed victory. Who knows, that 2 seed may have been the best team in the country, but they got upset.

But I enjoy the tournament format more because it gives deserving teams a shot at the title. They still have to earn it. Villanova has won a title as an 8 seed I believe. They were clearly not the best team in the country that year.

Man damn that, Nova beat Pitt TWICE this year. Pitt was suspect the whole damn tournament. UNC would of had an easier time with them. The thing that troubles me with Nova is their guard play. Look at every UNC loss this year and they got killed on guard play. As long as UNC guards show up and Roy doesn't have another choke moment, they will be good.

What if he isn't a 1st rounder? His combined deal wouldn't be a million

The same 'Nova team that turned the ball over 16 times to American and was down by 10 at halftime and only beat them by 13 points?
'Nova should be more worried about UNC than the other way around, imo.

If Ellington is too small to be a wing, Henderson is too, since they are both about 6'4.

Henderson is more athletic. Ellington is a better shooter. If you're small in the NBA, you better be able to shoot.

I've also seen Ellington drive to is left (lol).

Like I said, Henderson is pretty much a shorter (and maybe less athletic) Gerald Wallace.
