It was shooting in general, wide open shots....they have won without hitting the 3...they could not hit from anywhere last night.

 

Year after year after year. And it's great.

 

Unlike UNC fans, I don't play the WTNY card, I support the team he puts on the court and they did well this year 30 wins is nothing to scoff at.....They have a banner for this year...UNC has nothing yet.

K coached his ass off to get the Blue Devils as far as they got in the NCAA and the ACC title is nothing to scoff at. Can't say I'm sorry to see them gone but this team overacheived considering the lack of talent.

Can't wholly disagree with this. I remember the last time Duke's program was down, and then Elton Brand, Battier, Avery and a handful of others signed and led them to the 2-loss season in 99 and the NC in 2001. In 99 there is a classic SI cover talking about 'Duke's Attitude' and how they had gotten nasty, with Brand on the cover.

The thing is, if Duke had gotten either Patterson or Greg Monroe then they wouldn't have looked nearly as soft inside. It only takes a couple of misses to bring down a program. Not to mention (as I've said before) Duke hasn't had a 'great' PG since Jason Williams.

If they can't get a dominant point they will be in the same position for years to come.

That's like the great myth, Duke wasn't even a good three point shooting team this year. There is no Redick out there, no Dunleavy, no guy who I felt confident would make the next three. Once I saw how cold Scheyer and Henderson were you knew the night would be long. To be as close at halftime as it was was a mirage, within 3 minutes you could tell Duke was overmatched. Duke was missing 3s while Nova was missing 10 foot jump shots, it wasn't going to last.



But yes, Duke hangs a banner this year, which is something they haven't done in awhile. They had a good season, just a disappointing and predictable end.

I think it was a terrible game plan by coach K. They looked like they were already panicking in the first half after they lost the lead. Almost all the 3's they were throwing up were prayers. I kept on waiting for time outs to try and change strategy, but it seemed like to me the change in strategy on offense was to shoot 3 pointers from even farther away and on defense to defend the 3. Weak.
