yeah, seems like it's 1977 -- for now anyway. i would think that they'd have to bail before ben arrives on the island -- that is, the child ben -- which is probably kind of soon. when does the whole gassing of the darma initiative happen? late 80's? how old is ben when he first arrives on the island? like maybe 10 at most? he seems older than 41-42 to me.

also, it seems that it's only the oceanic 6 who have gone back to the 70's. ben and locke are still in the present time, i believe, with the other folks from the flight. not sure why that is. the others seemed to have re-convened with the rest of the group in the same "record groove" that they're stuck in. odd.

we haven't seen sun yet have we? or sayid? i can't remember if he's with hurley, jack and kate....

they spent a long time redeeming ben so he wouldn't be so completely bad, but it seems now the whole "helping john" bit was really just a matter of trying to make it back onto the island himself.

okay, i guess little ben is already on the island so scratch having to bail before he gets there.

i'm a little disappointed that in-fighting is already an issue. i mean, for fuck's sake, they've been waiting for them to return for three years and they finally do and already the bickering?

it's interesting that the survivors in the dharma initiative are the same ones that were captured by the others in season 2 -- jack, kate, hurley and sawyer. presumably they're trying to give some sort of reason why they were selected.

something odd, tho, is if that picture of the 1977 inductees has been there for 30 years, why hasn't anybody noticed it before? the survivors spent some time in the camp and clearly the others lived there after they killed the dharma people. didn't juliete ever wander in there and browse around? and if ben knew about the 1977 photo, wouldn't he have hidden it among his own stuff just to avoid anybody seeing it who shouldn't?

what's up with faraday? they said he's "not there anymore" but i took that to be more a mental state than a physical one. keep in mind he was already featured in at the orchid in dharma gear earlier this season.

that runway the plane landed on... was it cut by somebody who knew that plane was going to crash there? maybe jin at some point?

Doesn't the whole time travel thing seem a little deus ex machina to you? I mean the show started off pretty cool, but once they introduced time travel, it seems like they can use it to write themselves out of any corner the story goes into by simply altering time. Don't get me wrong, still love the show, but there's sharks in the water that look to be jumped soon.

i thought last season was going to be the "jump the shark" season, but i think i was wrong (i don't think you really recognize the moment a show goes off the rails till after it's been off for a while).

i do agree the time travel stuff is kinda silly. i mean, didn't i read something way back when about everything on the island being scientifically valid? they are clearly "winging it" when it comes to the story arc. i don't think time travel was part of the plan from day 1.

my guess is that time travel is "done" by the end of the season. sort of like how the numbers ceased to be an issue once that arc was over. or how the smoke monster essentially went away after a couple seasons....

hah. they already had that episode!

time travel has been the story since the get-go. it's about free will and love. we'll be able to go back at the end of the whole thing and rewatch every episode with new eyes.

very good observation. i've been trying to figure why sun wasn't taken back.

    its an alternate time path.

i figured he was mentally checked out, too.

    very cool idea.
