I sent in $3k from my tax refund to pay down a credit card. My transmission is going out on my car so I have it in the shop to be fixed. I am supposed to pick it up Thursday. I found out today that my credit card company has lowered by limit so that now I only have about $100 of available credit instead of the $3,400 I thought I had. Now I can not pay for my car until I get paid at the end of the month. I am going to have to have an embarassing conversation with the owner of the garage......

It makes me want to just default on the rest of the money I owe on the credit card.

    That will teach them.

I'll loan you the money at 30% interest.

Sorry about your bad news thelt. These credit card companies are heartless bastards. They are going to rape everyone between now and next July before the new credit card laws go in effect. I owe very little on my home right now but I'm thinking about getting it refinanced so I can pay off my credit card debt before the bastards hit me.

So, you only have $100 of credit AFTER paying off the $3,000?

I do because the card was almost maxed out before paying them the $3k. After I paid the $3k they dropped my credit limit by $3k making me maxed out again even though I owe them $3k less than I did.

It is all good though. I went to my local credit union and they are going to loan me the money to pay for my car repairs.....

I can not wait for the credit card companies to start going under like the banks have..... I hope they get no bail out money either.

I just called to activate a new card (had it for years) and I was approved for a promotional 4.9% rate until 11/09 and didnt even ask for it. Credit limit > $20K. :SmokinBanana:

I am a bit wary with credit cards these days. Been receiving impossible and unknown charges lately. :(

Charge them back. There is scam going around where fraudalent charges of very small amounts are appearing. Most people do not even notice them but they add up for the crook.
