I think vicunas are protected so it would be kinda like eating a bald eagle. I have not seen it on a menu.

I have an unhealthy obsession with wanting to raise them. I must have been a herder is a past life. And...they're cute and I'm quite sure they can't taste that good.

They cost about $10,000 each. All you need is two and some land. There are a couple of alpaca farms near where we live in VA. They raise them for the cloth though, not food.

That was my point. :square: In any case, I really liked Peru (not Lima though) and would like to go back at some point.

Lima is like any other city of 8+ million people you just have to know which areas to avoid. I really like the Miraflores area and we are staying in the La Molina area which is what I guess you could call the affluent suburb. It is very near the US Embassy.

As far as the vicuna, I had a coworker ask me to bring her a vicuna scarf back but once I told her it would cost over $1,000 she changed her mind.

Did I fail to mention the certain gastrointestinal side effects from eating foods your body is not so familiar with?

Funny. I was just thinking alpaca is something you take for an upset stomach.

No, it's fucking disgusting. The air quality is worse than just about anywhere except Mexico City. They do have some interesting museums, but in general it is a shithole that even Peruvians avoid whenever possible.
