The team has bigger issues than 3rd string runningback.

A reciever is not an important factor for the 2009 season. However it may be as Moose gets older. A top free agent that would be good fit for the panthers is TJ Housmenzada (forgive the spelling).. If we decide to trade peppers then we must update on the DL.. However one of the most important needs for us is a stable corner back. Our secondary was ranked near the bottom of the leaugue and from what i can remember has never been too solid. I also say we try for a good young new qb either prolly in next years draft.

    Toefield?

Great plan, except Housh is going to get way more money than the panthers would pay.

Lucas nixes deal to Detroit; could be cutPosted: February 26th, 2009 | Adam Schefter | Tags: Carolina Panthers, Ken Lucas
The NFL’s trading deadline begins Friday, though talks already have been in high gear.
The Panthers tried trading cornerback Ken Lucas to the Detroit Lions. Problem is, once the two sides were engaged in discussions, Lucas let it be known that he did not and would not play in Detroit. Thus, trade talks were abandoned even though some in the league thought the trade might go through.
The talks are an indication of what Carolina has in mind for Lucas, who is scheduled to make $5.6 million in base salary this season. If Carolina cuts Lucas this week, it will free up $2.375 million against its salary cap. For a team desperately searching for space, Lucas provides some of it.

I saw on espn that the jets are gonna let Coles go. I know that the panthers most likely are not looking for a reciever, but what kind of deal would an aging vet like him demand?
