Survivorman is better..it's just one dude out there with a camera.
Of course, Timothy Treadwell was even better, until that whole "being eaten alive" thing...

The Survivorman dude is a liberal dope smoker, so half the TV watchers here hate him. But he was the only one who actually went out and did it...WITHOUT A FILM CREW.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. They're both more about entertainment than actually doing what they claim they're doing.

Survivorman has a base camp within a certain radius of him incase something goes wrong, so while he is alone, he isn't entirely alone. This is obviously for safety reasons and doesn't effect how he goes about doing the show. Of course, he shows you how to survive over the duration of a week where as Man vs. Wild is the guy showing you how to get out of your situation ASAP. They have even stated before the show and in reports that many of the clips are him specifically doing something to show you how to get through it or survive it.

Survivorman is about how to fuck up and do nothing for a week. 90% of the things he tries he fails, which might be realistic, but it's also boring and pointless.

I don't recall ever saying what he did is fake, although some of it is staged for educational benefits. Him free climbing wet cliff faces sure isn't fake, and I've never seen firemen with trampolines at the bottom so anyone who complains can try their hand at that.

I didn't know it was back in 2006, but I do remember it being a while ago when the news broke that he set up many things.
