All the "T's" must have been crossed on the merger because XM is advertising the best of Sirius packages on the XM radio and web site. For 4 dollars a month for the family plan you get 2 channels of Stern, all the NFL channels, nascar, Martha Stewert, and Playboy. I'll be on this soon. Hopefully additional music channels will follow

so you have to pay 4.00 extra for the best of sirius or best of xm. fuck that. on top of that they took the fungus channel and replaced it temporarily with AC/DC channel. I like AC/DC but they took my favorite channel away. and now they want you to pay 33% extra a month to get an additional 6 or so channels. I would probably only listen to the NFL and occasionally Stern.

Same here. I miss listening to the occasional Celtics game, I need the best of XM upgrade to get it. I'll probably cave in right before April, get it for the Red Sox for the summer.

They will be alright. Bankruptcy doen't mean they will go away, it means restructuring. They still have positive cash flow with over 20 million subscribers + advertising generating revenue. They just have a ton of debt right now with the start up costs and the aquisition of XM's debt.

Their biggest problem right now is a hostile takeover occuring as there is rumors of their debt being purchased. That's bad news for sirius/xm but good news for the consumer because it means somone with a lot of money sees value in the company and wants it.

how much did their deal with Stern play into this? Didn't they also overspend for Oprah and Martha Stewart? We were talking about this at work on Wednesday--seemed like they overvalued what Oprah and Stewart would bring to the table. Stern was a hit right out of the gate with them.....just curious about this, because I just got a new ride with Sirius already in place (until April), and am wondering if I need to renew it.

They can have tons of cash flow but if it isn't enough to cover the debt then they got a problem.

Both companies were sucked dry waiting over a year for the merger to be approved. That was a joke. They have positive cash flow from what I've read and that is what is making them an attractive aquisition.

You don't have people wanting to buy your debt if you are a long term loser.

Stern paid off. Sirius went from like 800,000 subscriptions to about 7,000,000 because of him. Oprah and Martha were dead weight. They brought next to nobody. The NFL contract cost them a ton.
