My dad has something going on with his foot. Its red, swollen, peeling skin and its gone from his toes and is now above the ankles. He's gone to the doctor....he's on meds. He said it was some kind of infection. I guess the doctor stressed how serious it was and how if it hadn't been treated he could have faced losing his foot.

I asked what it was called and all he says he can remember is "it starts with an S". A call to the doctors office wasn't any help because the "Typed paperwork won't be back in the office till tomorrow"????????? But the nurse thought it had something to do with blood flow. (not what dad said) :banghead:

I'm just curious and wanted to read up on it asap. Anyone got any ideas what it could be? I'll post the answer tomorrow hopefully.

(49erpi unless you have a realistic suggestion I would prefer you not respond......TIA)

It could be a strep virus, I think. Seems like I read somewhere it's not just the throat that gets strep.

The red flaking skin sounds like psoriasis, but I don't think psoriasis would cause someone to be in jeopardy of losing an appendage.
