then he wrote me and said he was fucking with you...you are full of shit

If you write in with something worth saying he will make a legitimate response. Imagine that.

I wrote an email to MSP that was read by Frank Caliendo on-air. He read it in his Jim Rome voice, I'm nearly-famous. I wrote them back asking where I could get that segment on tape but they never wrote me back. I guess they only care about emails that slam them personally :(

OK, Gary is leaving on his own accord to go to XM/Sirius Radio vs. a salary purge, but still the fact that WFNZ is simply rearranging their lineup to fill the position vs. going out and finding a fresh voice to join the lineup is discouraging . . .

IMHO, WFNZ could've been a great sportstalk station (up there with WFAN, WEEI, KNBR, etc.). But it seems like CBS Radio is just content with having a decent station that generates a small profit for the mother corporation (CBS Corp.). The signal still stinks (despite tweaks over the years and starting an HD signal), they've never landed the Panthers or Bobcats/Hornets radio contract, and their lineup has become stagnant. Primetime has become predicatable over the last several years (Whiner Line is the same everyday pretty much, QCB can't pick the spread if he had to save his life, etc.). I don't see why CBS Radio just doesn't change one of their lower rated FM Stations (K-104.7) into WFNZ so the station could make a serious run at the Panthers/Bobcats contract when it comes up. That would do a lot in getting their ratings up . .

You leave 104.7 the fuck alone please. One of the last three decent FM music stations left in Charlotte.

WFNZ co-host moves to national stage

    By Ron Green Jr.
    [email protected]

Gary Williams, co-host of WFNZ-AM's popular “Morning Sports Page” show for nearly 10 years, is in his final week with the all-sports station.

Williams is leaving to host a 6-10a.m. daily sports talk show on Sirius and XM satellite radio. His show will begin Monday.

“Gary has been offered what he thinks is a great opportunity and he asked us to let him out of his contract so he can pursue it. We did not want to hold him back,” said D.J. Stout, operations manager and program director at WFNZ.

Williams, native of Ridgewood, N.J., will move to the New York area to host his show.

“This is very difficult personally,” Williams said Monday. “I appreciate the people here letting me do this. It's bittersweet because this is our home and so many people have been so good to me.”

Williams said his show, which will not include co-hosts, will be more caller-driven than the morning show he has co-hosted here.

“I've loved what I've done, but this is the chance to do a four-hour, national format.”

With Williams' exit, the sports-talk station is revamping its daily lineup.

Beginning Monday, the 6-10a.m. slot will be occupied by “The Mac Attack” with Chris McClain and Jim Celania, Williams' co-host on “Morning Sports Page.”

“The WFNZ Four Horsemen” hosted by McClain, Celania and former Carolina Panthers Brentson Buckner and Frank Garcia will air 10-11a.m., followed from 11a.m. until 3p.m. by the “Frank and Buck Show” with new additions Mark Yarbro and Tom Reilly from the “Morning Sports Page.”

“Primetime with the Packman” will continue 3-7p.m., Stout said. Host Mark Packer recently signed a contract extension with WFNZ.
