I imagine he could be competent at it. He can drop, he can flow to the ball.

The idea that people are going to forget about him, not double him, block him that much different because he's at LB? they're not going to do that. That his numbers will get better because he's dropping back more? No, I don't believe that.

And if he's at OLB, DE, free safety, wherever, you still want him rushing the passer. Him not rushing the passer, just like here, is a strategy to get them to account for him in blocking scheme when he's not there, then overload the other side. It's something you can do a few times, not 20.

I don't know. I know I and most have had a concern or two about how he's being used in a few circumstances. Most of it's been "he should be rushing instead of _________", so him being at OLB isn't going to remedy that. At best he could be used standing up occasionally, I don't have a remedy for his concerns that he's not getting used well.

Or short answer, if I were acquiring Peppers, I'd put him at end. I would have him play the run, too. Nobody's above that, so him playing his man instead of running outside every play isn't something I'd do. If he has to be stood up to be best rushing, I'd find a way to do that when it's an obvious pass down.

Does anyone else find it odd that magnus never disputed the idea that Peppers was being misused in this defense for the many years that people insisted as much? In fact, I can recall him agreeing. But now that Peppers is leaving and Fox disagrees with the idea, suddenly magnus disagrees with it too. Interesting.

he probably could. but...i'm getting older, so my memory may be spotty, but weren't you banging the drum like there was no tomorrow last year on getting peppers out of here?

    my 2 cents...the defense couldn't stop anyone the last 8 weeks of the season. A N Y O N E.

i don't see how it gets exponentially worse than that with the impending departure of peppers. i certainly wouldn't attempt to change over the entire scheme for one player either though in an attempt to pacify that player.

It varied, but if we had traded peppers to get in to position to draft a Chris Long or a Vernon Gholston I don't think Thelt would have objected.

Do you have a link to where I said "Peppers is being misused"?
Sure, some people said "maybe he should be at right end", and that I agreed to.

It's fair to say that I see him as a nemesis, although if you're honest about it I think you'll admit that I don't just disagree with him to be an ass, like he sometimes does with me. When he says something I agree with, I back him on it. But sure, it's annoying to me that he's being hypocritical and showing a lot of the same behavior that got him so widely mocked during the last part of the Seifert era.

the more work put into trying to devalue, the more it's apparent the value.

Yes, you agreed that he would be more effective at RDE and you also agreed with those who complained about him being dropped into coverage.

If that's true, then I must really value Thelt a lot, right? Maybe this is what you need to tell yourself after all the many times we've argued and you've come out looking stupid. At least you've had the good grace not to babble about Delhomme lately.
