He spent 9 or 10 years at BC and only 2 years at NC State, so that makes a big difference. I stand by my arguement that he coaches up players. For example, taking a 2-star QB coming out of HS and turning him into the ALL-ACC 1st team as a freshman and the ACC Rookie of the year.

Considering we both made coaching changes at the same time and the fact that in that time frame NC State is 2-0 vs UNC I would say YES its a hell of a start anyway. .

Because it takes him 9 or 10 years to coach players who are only around 3 to 5 years? How long does it take such a supposedly good coach to get his players to do well? I could understand giving him a mulligan on his first year, but if the guy is such a good coach then why did he also have a losing record in his second season at State? And please don't pretend that O'Brien turned Russell Wilson into a good quarterback. That was serendipity, and trying to give O'Brien credit for that just makes you look desperate.

OK I'll bite He left a program that he had built from the ground up. Left it WAY BETTER than he found it. As I recall they had a winning season quite a few times in his 10 years there. When he left the program was stable, AND winning. And he left on HIS TERMS.

NC State was coming off 3-9 and whether you believe it or not recruiting had suffered big time. Heres an example of what TOB faced. Had the program been in tip top shape Chuck would still be here.

And No I guess Russell just rolled out of his 2 star heaven waltzed in and became ALL- ACC. Is that the way it works???......Whatever. I'll take our guy. You take yours and lets see if you can at least be competitive next year IN CF.

Yeah. All the injuries were just a tiny blip on the performance meter.
