Erpi, give me video of an actual play where an NFL team ran a comeback route. It doesn't happen. In the NFL, you don't have receivers turn and run back towards the line of scrimmage before the QB throws the ball. It doesn't happen. I have watched hundreds of NFL games and never seen it once. The only time you ever see a receiver running back towards the line of scrimmage before the ball is thrown is if the quarterback is scrambling outside the pocket, as receivers are taught to come back towards the quarterback in those situations.

Your "examples" are all of comeback routes being taught to high schoolers because the comeback route is used at that level and below by quarterbacks who aren't skilled enough to master timing routes. That's the only time you'll use comeback routes, is if you're not good enough to do timing routes. In college and the NFL, the throw is made before the receiver turns. They don't wait for the receiver to turn and start running back towards the line of scrimmage before they throw it, because that gives the defense time to react.

CHARLOTTE — The Bucs’ slow-start-itis must have rubbed off on the Panthers.

At least the Panthers cured their own malady of not finishing off games.

Still, Monday’s game was not without its share of hairy moments for the Panthers, who temporarily put themselves back into the NFC South race at 5-4 with a 27-10 win over the injury-addled Buccaneers before 67,717 people.

“If you want to see a blueprint of a bad game, watch the second half of the (loss to Dallas) and then the first half of this game,” Panthers OT Jordan Gross said.

The Panthers were charged with nine penalties, four of them procedural, turned the ball over twice and went the first half without scoring. On top of that, the running game bogged down despite the fact the Bucs spent the game predominantly in their patented Tampa-2 defense, not known as a run-eliminating scheme.

More significantly, the Panthers depended on their two stars — WR Steve Smith and DE Julius Peppers — to bail them out again.

How long can they do this?

Smith, in a valiant effort, caught eight passes for 149 yards and a touchdown despite getting sick during the game on the sideline and needing an IV to continue playing. Peppers, who had no sacks the previous two games, whipsawed through Bucs rookie ORT Jeremy Trueblood and whatever double-team reinforcement the Bucs sent his way for three sacks and a fumble recovery.

Tampa matched its season total of seven first-quarter points when Bruce Gradkowski hit Ike Hillard on a six-yard slant five plays after the Bucs had recovered a Keyshawn Johnson fumble at the Panthers’ 48-yard line. They carried a 7-0 lead into halftime.

“I don’t know where the guy came from,” Johnson said, speaking of Bucs CB Ronde Barber, who forced the fumble. “So I guess he made a good play.”

The Panthers finally got on the board on their first drive of the second half as John Kasay capped an eight-play, 64-yard drive — highlighted by a pretty 43-yard reception by Smith and a great acting job by Johnson on a hit out of bounds — with a 28-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 7-3.

Gradkowski scrambled and had a first down on 3rd-and-3, but Chris Draft slammed into the diving quarterback and the ball came loose. Five plays later, Delhomme hit Smith on a comeback route, and a questionable face-mask personal foul placed the ball at the Bucs’ four-yard line. Three plays later, Delhomme found Johnson — his atonement for the earlier fumble — on a TD reception in the back of the endzone, making it 10-7 Panthers.

Post a link to video of any NFL play where the WR turns and runs back toward the line of scrimmage before the QB throws the ball.

Hey, maybe I can just call John Fox and he can send me over some game tapes. Fuck you. You are a joke.

Like I said before, you can fool some of these people because you read a little about the game but I know you've never played it by the way you talk about it and you're a big football fraud.
