I don't recall davis being very good at taking on blockers, a key to playing inside in the 34, see Vilma, Jon.

he would probably honor a contract again, sure. Begrudgingly. Which isn't the worst option, but you want a guy making that much to not be here against his will, ideally.

all of this could be a negotiating tactic. The 3-4 talk is most likely just a way of getting talk going, mentioning teams without mentioning teams.
He could want out of the area without having a problem with the team. I don't like one of our best downtalking our team, but otherwise as long as there's a shot at getting something for him, we'll find a way to go on.

if it was a one-gap 3-4, we could have some pieces, but I don't like a one-gap. And to boot, it seems some of those flavors of one-gap 3-4 don't show as blitz-laden as the traditional Pittsburgh level units.

I don't think we should abandon what we have for one player's happiness, when that player isn't necessarily happy anyway. I don't think there's a single thing, however, that we're doing to limit him.

LOL at the "if we can just find a nose tackle a 34 could work" idea. That's like saying if we could just find a worm hole, we could travel back in time.

nose tackles certainly don't grow on trees. That's a fair part of doing so, and then you've got a bunch of other things to worry about, too.

We have plenty of holes we could fill, to where rebuilding the front in a different fashion isn't impossible, but not doing this and finding ways to do whatever the hell we're going to do at CB. And we're not going to build some exotic defense that's going to work and have shitty CBs.

It apparent to me that Peppers only care about himself and not and not about the team. Peppers have not mature yet. Grow and act like an adult. Just look at smithy sure he had some of the field issue before. And he did break ken Lucas nose in training camp. But with that said when 2 years ago Jeff Davidson was hire to become the new Offensive coordinator. And Fox said that we would be a running team first. You did not hear one word out of Smithy mouth t saying hat he is not happy about this or that he want the cats to trade him. Or that he does not want to be a panthers anymore. Smithy is a mature person and Peppers is acting like TO.

"Smithy" beat the shit out of his own teammate in training camp. Great maturity there. Peppers is no longer under contract, so he can say or do whatever the fuck he wants. I think him keeping this under wraps the entire season and playing great shows tremendous maturity.

Peppers undoubtedly did tell this to the Panthers, just as they undoubtedly told him that they didn't care and were going to put the franchise tag on him anyway. He didn't quit on the team and he didn't demand a trade during the season. He has every right to say he wants to play somewhere else. I wish he felt differently, but bashing the guy just because he's leaving us isn't right.

See Steve Reed from the Carolina Growl .com is saying about the something that i just said.

If Julius Peppers really didn't want to "cripple" the Carolina Panthers organization, as he said after the season ended, he should have at least waited until after the team franchised him and had a chance to trade him before making his feelings known.

Now it may be tough for the Panthers to get much of anything for Peppers since teams know he wants out.

Teams realize that Carolina won't want to keep a guy who wants out, and may figure they will just wait until the asking price goes down or Peppers is released. So basically, by making his feelings known, Peppers has really put the Panthers it a horrible spot.

"He has submitted to their defense and has tried his very best to operate within it.

This whole thing makes me sadder then the loss to Kansas. Sounds like he was really not happy here. We have such a talent for misusing what good players we do manage to get. I know you don't change the whole scheme to keep 90, but it sure is sounding more and more like the lockerroom isn't the bright sunny place they lead us to believe with players being eager to leave.

    Hey Sackem90, what about Falsestart69?
