What would we really need to make the switch to a 3-4. On the DL we would probably need to add one guy. If Kemo and Lewis could both play on a 3-4 DL. You might have to find a NT. I am not 100% convinced that Kemo could not be a solid NT though. So on the DL you need one guy.

We have the linebackers to play inside in a 3-4. Beason and Davis could both do it pretty well. Peppers would be one OLB. We might have to add another linebacker for the other OLB spot if Diggs or Johnson can not handle it.

Adding two players on defense does not seem like a high mountain to climb really. Maybe Hilee Taylor could play some OLB in a 3-4? The biggest thing is that the 3-4 goes against what Fox has always used and what Trgo has always used. Dick Lebeau is not exactly itching to leave Pittsburgh to come here and be our DC.

Not likely. We have among the least cap space in the league already. Letting go of Peppers would free up quite a bit, but still not as much as other teams have.

Shut up. People have been explaining to you for years why our personnel do not fit a 3-4. You cannot pretend to be ignorant.

Restructure (or release) Jake, release Lucas, no Pep, sign Gross, we should be able to have some money.

It would, but don't forget about spending money on replacements for the people you're cutting.

One of the big complaints here was that we drop him back too frequently. As a 34 OLB, he would be expected to drop back frequently.

True, but it is a bit different when doing so from 4-3 DE. Plus you don't see Ware and Merriman do a lot of dropping. Peppers presumably wants that weakside spot where he would get to pin his ears back and rush off the edge.

It's depressing that he doesn't want to play here anymore, but haven't there been cases of guys vowing not to play for a team if they get franchised but then playing the next season anyway?

Lucas only, I don't seriously expect Jake to be released. I don't exactly know who his replacement would be but we can give up 26 a game a lot cheaper than paying him to help.

Yeah, but I just don't get the sense that this is a negotiating tactic. It was odd that they couldn't reach a contract agreement before now, and him not wanting to sign at all would certainly explain that. He's not a guy who seems to hunger for fame, so I don't know that he would care a lot about the prestige of being "highest paid," but I can definitely imagine him thinking that he could be dominant in a system that allowed him to freelance more. Our system is pretty strict in terms of assignments, so there's not much room for him to react and make plays on his own.

Peppers had a very good career with the panthers. With that said I think he is kind of selfish .I mean I thought the team first and not the player. Sure he want to move to a LB .You know I really think that if today Fox and Trgo would hold a press conference today saying that we are switching to 3-4 and moving Peppers to LB I am still not sure that he would sign a long turn deal. If peppers want out. His agent should have not told this to media. What good does it do to told the media .I would have been nicer and smarter of Peppers agent to not say anything public what so ever. Tell this only to Marty Hurney John fox and Big Cat. Peppers and his Agent have stabbed the Panthers in the back. Trade him get a 1st rd pick for him. Or maybe trade him for a 2nd rd pick and DE or a CB or QB.Get someone who want to be a carolina panthers
