    His previous statements about "wanting to do what was best for the team and himself" made it sound like he'd be agreeable to being franchised and traded.

    Still no backup from ESPN on that statement yet.

    Finally got to the story, and ESPN didn't actually have any backup for their statement that peppers didn't want to be tagged. Sounds like it was just their take on what his agent's release said.

    Still might be true, mind you, but there's nothing on paper to back it up.

    Now something that I am wondering why would Pep does not want to be a panther anymore. After all he is from NC and play at unc. And most players would love to play for there hometown team .You got to wonder if maybe and Fox or Trgovac or upper management does not get along with him

    oh yeah, and fuck him for playing so shitty last year and then having THIS season come contract time.

    it may have helped us, but so would have showing up last year.

    More teams are running the 3-4. He could do well. I damn sure wouldn't pay him 17 million though or trade a first rounder.

    I can see wanting out of this system, I can also see wanting out of NC after being here his whole life. What I don't get is that he didn't tell the panthers privately and let them negotiate a sign and trade behind closed doors. It seems to me he would have and if he did and this is now happening... the panthers aren't getting the value they wanted from him in a trade.

    "The front office has been informed of my desire to explore opportunities with other NFL teams following the expiration of my contract next month," Peppers said in a statement released to ESPN through his agent, Carl Carey. "At this point in my career, I am seeking new challenges that will allow me to grow, develop and reach my personal potential on the football field.

    Carey told ESPN that Peppers wouldn't change his mind.

    "Julius is firm in his decision that he needs a change," Carey said. "He feels that he can thrive in another system. While he has been selected to four Pro Bowls and designated as an All-Pro during his career, he feels that he has yet to develop to his full potential. This is the case of a great player who seeks to become an elite one."
